This is due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the replace_file function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to overwrite existing media attachments with attacker-supplied file content by supplying a forged multipart POST request targeting any attachment the victim has edit_post capability over via a forged request granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link. The forged request requires a victim with at least Author-level privileges, as the handler enforces a current_user_can('edit_post', $id) check; tricking an Author-level or higher user into clicking a crafted link is sufficient to trigger the overwrite against attachments that user can edit.","published_at":"2026-06-18T05:34:25.696000Z","last_modified_at":null,"cvss_v3_score":4.3,"cvss_v3_vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","cvss_v3_severity":"MEDIUM","cvss_v4_score":null,"cvss_v4_vector":null,"cvss_v4_severity":null,"ssvc_decision":null,"ssvc_exploitation":null,"ssvc_automatable":null,"ssvc_technical_impact":null,"cwes":["CWE-352"],"nvd_references":["https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/8a90de6e-6bd5-43b6-980d-84d25d4120ad?source=cve","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/optimole-wp/tags/4.2.6/inc/media_rename/attachment_edit.php#L331","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/optimole-wp/tags/4.2.6/inc/media_rename/attachment_edit.php#L24","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/optimole-wp/tags/4.2.5/inc/media_rename/attachment_edit.php#L331","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/optimole-wp/tags/4.2.5/inc/media_rename/attachment_edit.php#L24","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?sfp_email=&sfph_mail=&reponame=&old=3574315%40optimole-wp&new=3574315%40optimole-wp&sfp_email=&sfph_mail="],"vuln_status":null,"trending_score":null,"is_trending":false,"has_trended":false,"trended_number_one":false,"trending_peak_score":null,"trending_peak_rank":null,"started_trending_at":null,"trended_number_one_at":null,"summary_generated":null,"summary_generated_at":null,"summary_model":null,"created_at":"2026-06-24T00:09:39.878444Z","updated_at":"2026-06-28T23:28:55.783287Z"},"effective_severity":"MEDIUM","badges":[],"impact_analysis":[],"cvss_v3_decoded":{"version":"3.1","metrics":[{"metric":"AV","name":"Attack Vector","value":"N","value_label":"Network"},{"metric":"AC","name":"Attack Complexity","value":"L","value_label":"Low"},{"metric":"PR","name":"Privileges Required","value":"N","value_label":"None"},{"metric":"UI","name":"User Interaction","value":"R","value_label":"Required"},{"metric":"S","name":"Scope","value":"U","value_label":"Unchanged"},{"metric":"C","name":"Confidentiality","value":"N","value_label":"None"},{"metric":"I","name":"Integrity","value":"L","value_label":"Low"},{"metric":"A","name":"Availability","value":"N","value_label":"None"}]},"cvss_v4_decoded":{"version":null,"metrics":[]},"affected":[{"vendor_slug":"optimole","vendor_name":"optimole","product_slug":"optimole-optimize-images-convert-webp-avif-cdn-lazy-load-image-optimization","product_name":"Optimole – Optimize Images | Convert WebP & AVIF | CDN & Lazy Load | Image Optimization","version_start":"0","version_start_inclusive":true,"version_end":"4.2.6","version_end_inclusive":true,"cpe23_uri":"cve5:optimole:optimole-optimize-images-convert-webp-avif-cdn-lazy-load-image-optimization:0:4.2.6"}],"exploit_refs":[],"news":[],"references":[{"url":"https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/8a90de6e-6bd5-43b6-980d-84d25d4120ad?source=cve","source_type":"MISC","tags":[]},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/optimole-wp/tags/4.2.6/inc/media_rename/attachment_edit.php#L331","source_type":"MISC","tags":[]},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/optimole-wp/tags/4.2.6/inc/media_rename/attachment_edit.php#L24","source_type":"MISC","tags":[]},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/optimole-wp/tags/4.2.5/inc/media_rename/attachment_edit.php#L331","source_type":"MISC","tags":[]},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/optimole-wp/tags/4.2.5/inc/media_rename/attachment_edit.php#L24","source_type":"MISC","tags":[]},{"url":"https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?sfp_email=&sfph_mail=&reponame=&old=3574315%40optimole-wp&new=3574315%40optimole-wp&sfp_email=&sfph_mail=","source_type":"MISC","tags":[]}],"timeline":[{"type":"published","at":"2026-06-18T05:34:25.696000Z","label":"CVE published","source":null},{"type":"cvss_changed","at":"2026-06-28T17:50:40.391234Z","label":"CVSS score revised","source":"cvelistv5"},{"type":"cvss_changed","at":"2026-06-28T17:50:40.391234Z","label":"CVSS score revised","source":"cvelistv5"},{"type":"cvss_changed","at":"2026-06-28T17:50:40.391234Z","label":"CVSS score revised","source":"cvelistv5"}]}
