Since deleting selem in NMI is an unlikely use\ncase, partially mitigate it by returning error when calling from\nbpf_xxx_storage_delete() helpers in NMI. Note that, it is still possible\nto deadlock through reentrant. A full mitigation requires returning\nerror when irqs_disabled() is true, which, however is too heavy-handed\nfor bpf_xxx_storage_delete().\n\nThe long-term solution requires _nolock versions of call_rcu. Another\npossible solution is to defer the free through irq_work [0], but it\nwould grow the size of selem, which is non-ideal.\n\nThe check is only needed in bpf_selem_unlink(), which is used by helpers\nand syscalls. bpf_selem_unlink_nofail() is fine as it is called during\nmap and owner tear down that never run in NMI or reentrant.\n\n[0] https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/20260205190233.912-1-alexei.starovoitov@gmail.com/","published_at":"2026-06-24T16:30:41.382000Z","last_modified_at":null,"cvss_v3_score":null,"cvss_v3_vector":null,"cvss_v3_severity":null,"cvss_v4_score":null,"cvss_v4_vector":null,"cvss_v4_severity":null,"ssvc_decision":null,"ssvc_exploitation":null,"ssvc_automatable":null,"ssvc_technical_impact":null,"cwes":null,"nvd_references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e84acaf936970b5b0be2c93bbf255295ba9406df","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/350de5b8a9befaa2a68861c51f671d4f5f751ca5"],"vuln_status":null,"trending_score":null,"is_trending":false,"has_trended":false,"trended_number_one":false,"trending_peak_score":null,"trending_peak_rank":null,"started_trending_at":null,"trended_number_one_at":null,"summary_generated":null,"summary_generated_at":null,"summary_model":null,"created_at":"2026-06-28T17:55:28.590503Z","updated_at":"2026-06-28T23:30:50.753831Z"},"effective_severity":null,"badges":[],"impact_analysis":[],"cvss_v3_decoded":{"version":null,"metrics":[]},"cvss_v4_decoded":{"version":null,"metrics":[]},"affected":[{"vendor_slug":"linux","vendor_name":"Linux","product_slug":"linux","product_name":"Linux","version_start":"a10787e6d58c24b51e91c19c6d16c5da89fcaa4b","version_start_inclusive":true,"version_end":"e84acaf936970b5b0be2c93bbf255295ba9406df","version_end_inclusive":false,"cpe23_uri":"cve5:linux:linux:a10787e6d58c24b51e91c19c6d16c5da89fcaa4b:e84acaf936970b5b0be2c93bbf255295ba9406df"},{"vendor_slug":"linux","vendor_name":"Linux","product_slug":"linux","product_name":"Linux","version_start":"a10787e6d58c24b51e91c19c6d16c5da89fcaa4b","version_start_inclusive":true,"version_end":"350de5b8a9befaa2a68861c51f671d4f5f751ca5","version_end_inclusive":false,"cpe23_uri":"cve5:linux:linux:a10787e6d58c24b51e91c19c6d16c5da89fcaa4b:350de5b8a9befaa2a68861c51f671d4f5f751ca5"},{"vendor_slug":"linux","vendor_name":"Linux","product_slug":"linux","product_name":"Linux","version_start":"5.13","version_start_inclusive":true,"version_end":"5.13","version_end_inclusive":true,"cpe23_uri":"cve5:linux:linux:5.13:5.13"},{"vendor_slug":"linux","vendor_name":"Linux","product_slug":"linux","product_name":"Linux","version_start":"0","version_start_inclusive":true,"version_end":"5.13","version_end_inclusive":false,"cpe23_uri":"cve5:linux:linux:0:5.13"},{"vendor_slug":"linux","vendor_name":"Linux","product_slug":"linux","product_name":"Linux","version_start":"7.0.10","version_start_inclusive":true,"version_end":"7.0.*","version_end_inclusive":true,"cpe23_uri":"cve5:linux:linux:7.0.10:7.0.*"},{"vendor_slug":"linux","vendor_name":"Linux","product_slug":"linux","product_name":"Linux","version_start":"7.1","version_start_inclusive":true,"version_end":"*","version_end_inclusive":true,"cpe23_uri":"cve5:linux:linux:7.1:*"}],"exploit_refs":[],"news":[],"references":[{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e84acaf936970b5b0be2c93bbf255295ba9406df","source_type":"MISC","tags":[]},{"url":"https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/350de5b8a9befaa2a68861c51f671d4f5f751ca5","source_type":"MISC","tags":[]}],"timeline":[{"type":"published","at":"2026-06-24T16:30:41.382000Z","label":"CVE published","source":null}]}
